INTEGRAL FLUTED TUBE FOR SOUND SUPPRESSION

A tube which may be employed as a sound suppression device and/or an exhaust ejector in the same or separate housings has inlet and outlet ends with a constricted portion between its ends and bypass passages through the constricted portion, within the tube, to permit a portion of the gas flow therethrough to bypass the constriction. The constricted portion may be circumferentially discontinuous, and the passages may be located between the discontinuities. The constricted portion may have a crosssectional area that decreases to a minimum and then increases more gradually to a maximum toward the outlet end of the tube.
