A xerographic powder image on a support surface is embedded or encapsulated in a cohesive transparent film which is then removed from the support surface. The film is applied as a liquid by dipping the support surface into a container thereof, spraying or other means, the liquid layer surface controlled by a doctor blade, and the liquid dried by warm air to form the cohesive film. The film may be of plasticized polyvinyl alcohol, cellulose nitrate, polystyrene, or a solution of cellulose acetate in acetones. The film is stripped from the support surface by contact with a paper or transparent web coated with a self-adhesive, or may be stripped without a base and later attached to a base having a heat or vapour softenable surface layer such as polyethylene or microcrystalline wax. |
