METALLIC WIRY BODY FOR REINFORCING RUBBER PRODUCT AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To produce a metallic wiry body for reinforcing a rubber product with improved adhesive property to rubber and improved corrosion resistance by forming a plated layer of a metal such as Cu or Zn on the surface of a metallic Ti wire having an alpha-phase structure and by drawing the wire. CONSTITUTION:A plated layer of Cu, Zn, brass or bronze is formed on the surface of a metallic Ti (pure Ti or Ti alloy) wire having an alpha-phase structure and the wire is drawn. The bronze consists of 80-99wt.% Cu and 20-1wt.% Sn and the brass consists of 55-75wt.% Cu and 45-25wt.% Zn. A metallic wiry body suitable for use as a reinforcing material for a rubber product such as a tire or a high pressure hose is obtd.
