PURPOSE:To efficiently carry out electrolytic anion substitution when anions are substd. for anions of a different kind in an aq. soln., by using a fluorine- contg. anion exchange membrane of a specified copolymer as an anion exchange membrane for the substitution. CONSTITUTION:A fluorine-contg. anion exchange membrane of a copolymer having repeating units represented by the formula is used as an anion exchange membrane for electrolysis with an ion exchange membrane. In the formula, X is F or CF3, (l) is 0 or an integer of 1-5, (m) is 0 or 1, (n) is an integer of 1-5, each of (p) and (q) is a positive number, p/q=2-16, each of R1-R3 is lower alkyl group, R1 and R2 may bond to each other to form a tetramethylene or pentamethylene chain, R4 is H atom or lower alkyl group, R3 and R4 may bond to each other to form an ethylene or trimethylene chain, Z<-> is a negative ion and (a) is an integer of 2-10. The exchange capacity of the fluorine-contg. anion exchange membrane is regulated to about 0.1-3.0meq/g dry resin and the thickness to about 40-500mu.
