PURPOSE:To improve the adhesion between nylon resin and a plated film when the surface of the resin is plated, by directly etching the resin without carrying out conventional treatment with an aq. alkali soln. or water and by subjecting the etched resin to catalyst providing treatment. CONSTITUTION:When the surface of nylon resin is plated with a metal by electroplating or electroless plating, the resin is etched by immersion in an etching soln. at 30-50 deg.C for 4-15min without carrying out conventional pretreatment with an aq. alkali soln. or water. The etched resin is immersed in an aq. HCl soln. having 50ml/l concn. for 1-3min to remove a surfactant contained in the etching soln. stuck in the preceding stage. The resin is then washed and immersed in a catalyst providing agent contg. PdCl2, SnCl2 and a surfactant to deposit Pd as a catalyst for depositing a plating metal. Washing, immersion in an acid soln., washing, neutralization of the acid soln. with an NaOH soln. and final washing are further carried out in succession. A plated metal film having superior adhesive strength can be formed on the surface of the pretreated nylon resin. |
