PURPOSE:To produce an ingot having normal surface without developing segregation by executing electro-slag remelting to consumable electrode composing of iron base alloy specifying Cr+W+Mo+V+Nb content under condition of the speed according to diameter of the ingot. CONSTITUTION:The electro-slag remelting is executed to the consumable electrode composing of the iron base alloy containing >=0.10wt.% 7.5% Cr+W+ Mo+V+Nb to make the ingot having about 200-800mm diameter. Then, melting speed is made to <phi<0.34>kg/min and >0.005phikg/min in the case of using phifor the diameter of the ingot. By this method, the ingot having good surface without developing segregation can be produced for a short time.
