SAFETY DEVICE FOR A PERCUSSION FUSE

A percussion fuse having a primer capsule carried by a slide member transversely movable between a safety position and a firing position. A first locking mechanism responsive to projectile acceleration is provided to hold the slide member in the safety position during transport. Further safety is provided by having the firing pin held in a position, from which it can be manually retracted, restraining the slide member from movement. A locking bar prevents withdrawal of the firing pin from the slide member if the locking mechanism has been previously actuated.
