PRODUCTION OR ACTIVATION OF METALLIC OXIDE CATALYST CONTAINING ANTIMONY

PURPOSE:To improve yield by dry mixing a precursor consisting of a compsn. of a metallic oxide contg. antimony and an antimony compd., and bringing both components into contact with each other at 300-1,000 deg.C. CONSTITUTION:A compsn. of a metallic oxide contg. antimony which contains antimony and at least 1 kind of element among Fe, Co, Ni, Mn, Ce, U, Sn, Ti, Cu is deposited on a carrier of silica, titania, zirconia, etc. An antimony compd. such as antimony tetraoxide, antimony tetroxide, antimony pentaoxide, or the like is brought into contact with the carrier at 300-1,000 deg.C in a nonreductive gaseous atmosphere. The grain size of the compsn. of the metallic oxide contg. antimony is preferably 5-300 microns and the grain size of the antimony compd. is 0.1-500 microns.
