PURPOSE:To obtain an amorphous alloy provided with high corrosion resistance and high wear resistance as well as toughness by specifying the compsn. consisting of Ta or Nb and Cu. CONSTITUTION:The titled alloy contains, by atom., one or two kinds of 15-85% Ta and Nb and the balance consisting substantially of Cu. The alloy furthermore has the high wear resistance as well as toughness and is usable for a chemical plant, etc. In the above-mentioned amorphous alloy, Ta or Ta and Nb can be substd. by Ti or Zr up to 1% total in the maximum at need, and at this time, the compsn. contg. >=1% Ta or Ta+Nb, contg. total 15-85% of one or two kinds of Ti and Zr with Ta or Ta and Nb and the balance consisting substantially of Cu is regulated. Said amorphous alloy is obtd. by using a target in which a Cu plate is embedded with the alloy components such as Ta, Zr, etc., thereby generating the alloy on a substrate by sputtering.
