PURPOSE:To lightening the color of glaze and avoiding the products from forming pinholes, by making the activator fritted, when an activator is added to tin oxide crystals as a substance for giving the glaze electro-conductivity. CONSTITUTION:Tin oxide as a substance for giving the glaze electro- conductivity and an activator of, e.g., an Sb compound which forms a solid solution in the tin oxide crystals to cause imbalance in electrons to develop electro-conductivity are added to a glaze mixture. At this time, the Sb compound is previously fritted, added to the glaze mixture and the mixture is coated on the tile surface and fired. The fritts are obtained by melting the Sb compound at elevated temperature, vitrifying by cooling and crushing into fine particles. During the fritting process, volatile components are evaporated off, thus pinhole formation can be prevented. Further, the color of the glaze can be lightened and the glaze can be tinted to a variety of colors.
