PURPOSE:To form a three-dimensional film having a uniform thickness and metallic luster by coating only the tops and the sides of the projecting parts of the metallized surface of a resin substrate by electrodeposition to form color paint films and by coating the surface of the substrate gain by electrodeposition. CONSTITUTION:Parts of the surface of an ABS resin sheet corresponding to letters to be drawn are formed as projections by etching or other method and the sheet is used as a substrate 1. The entire surface of the substrate 1 is electroplated with Cr to form a Cr layer 2. The unprojecting part 3c of the plated substrate 1 is covered with an insulating masking material 6 and coating is carried out by anionic electrodeposition to form golden paint films 4 on the tops 3a and the sides 3b of the projecting parts 3. The masking material 6 is then stripped from the part 3c and coating is carried out again by electrodeposition to form a clear paint film 5 on the part 3c. Thus, a three-dimensional dichromatic coated product is obtd.
