摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance performance and durability and to reduce cost by forming a substrate of a material to allow easy formation of prepits and pregrooves, protecting a magneto-optical recording layer with 1st and 2nd dielectric films from both faces and adhering a deformation-resistant cover substrate on the 2nd dielectric film. CONSTITUTION:This recording medium has the substrate 10 formed with the prepits and pregrooves on one face and is formed successively with the 1st dielectric film 11, the magneto-optical recording layer 12 consisting of an amorphous film (RE-TM film) of a rare earth-transition metal alloy, the 2nd dielectric film 13, an adhesive layer 14, and the cover substrate 15 in lamination on the other face of the substrate 10. The 1st and 2nd dielectric films 11, 13 act to enhance the Kerr effect and to protect the magneto-optical recording layer 12 against corrosion, etc., by moisture absorption. For example, AlSiN films, etc., are used for said films. The RE-TM film constituting the magneto-optical recording layer 12 is made of, for example, an RE-Fe-Co-M alloy. The cover substrate 15 adhered via an adhesive layer 14 onto the 2nd dielectric film 13 has preferably a lower tendency to warpage and deformation by heat or with time and various substrates such as glass substrates are adopted thereto. The performance and durability are thereby enhanced and the cost is reduced.
