PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head suitable for mass production and resulting recording with high density, by forming plural grooves in a direction from an almost I shape core side toward an almost C shape core in a state where the almost I shape core and the almost C shape core are bonded. CONSTITUTION:The almost C shape core 15 for read/write, the almost I shape core 16 for read/write, a C shape core 17 for erasure, and an I shape core 18 for erasure are joined with glass 14 of high m.p., then, core blocks 21 and 22 having magnetic gap 19 and 20 are formed. On the core block 21, plural grooves 25 are formed so as to form gap forming planes 29 having tracks for read/write are formed, and on the core block 22, plural grooves 27 are formed so as to form the gap forming planes 31. Next, positioning is performed so that the center line of the gap forming planes 31 can be aligned to that of the gap forming planes 29. In such a way, it is possible to improve the size accuracy of each track width, and to improve the size accuracy by positioning the grooves with each other easily, and to improve working efficiency.
