PURPOSE:To improve pump efficiency by feeding pressure water from a pressure tank to the uppermost floor, and supplying lower floors with pressure water from an overhead feed pump. CONSTITUTION:When a feed water apparatus 20 on the uppermost floor A is released, pressure water is supplied from a pressure tank 24. For compensating the reduced amount of water in the tank 24, a storage pump 1 operates and water concurrently flows from a column pipe 5 to the tank 24 via a branch pipe 25 and a nonreturn valve 26, upon the supply of water to an overhead feed pump 7. A main pump 1, therefore, stops after water is reduced to a small amount, thereby preventing the occurrence of water hammer and the like.
