摘要 PURPOSE:To suppress the reduction of output to the min. value by controlling a trailing side spark plug to the ignition timing on the advance side in comparison with that of a leading side spark plug, when the misfire of the leading side spark plug is detected. CONSTITUTION:In a control unit 24, it is judged if a leading side spark plug 21 misfires or not, by detecting the leading side ignition pulse, and in case of misfire, the ignition timing of a trailing side spark plug 20 is advanced by a prescribed quantity. The ignition timing of the trailing side spark plug 20 is advanced according to the duration of the misfire period of the leading side spark plug 21, and when misfire continues, the ignition timing is advanced in comparison with that on the leading side. When misfire stops, the ignition timing on the trailing side is gradually advanced, and when misfire is not generated for a prescribed time, the original ignition timing is restored. Therefore, even if the leading side spark plug 20 misfires, the reduction of the output of the engine 1 can be suppressed exceedingly.
