PURPOSE:To reduce the cost and to make a die light in weight by forming only the thin surface layer of the die by high strength cement. CONSTITUTION:A plaster master 1 is prepared to conduct spray coating of surface lubricant on its surface. Then, an iron frame 2 is set for a female die and kneaded material 3 for a thin surface layer, which is made of high strength cement, is sprayed by a spray gun on the surface of the plaster master 1. In addition, a net of glass fiber 8 is put on the master, the kneaded material 3 is sprayed thereon and then the kneaded material for the rear layer 9 which is made of light, inexpensive cement, etc., is cast onto the kneaded material for the thin surface layer 3. Then, a female die 12 having a thin cured layer 10 and a rear layer 11 is removed and an iron frame 14 is set to form a male die 15 by the same method. The thin surface layer only is formed by high strength cement on the female die 12 and the male die 15, while the rear layer 9 is formed from inexpensive and light material. In this manner the cost of die is reduced and the die itself is also made light weight.
