The support structure according to the invention has at least two ice layers lying one on top of the other, the density of the lower layer being less than the density of the upper layer. The upper layer forms a support surface and the lower layer distributes the loads directed towards the support surface. The structure is formed by spraying, onto a support base, a first layer of ice whose average density is less than 800 kg/m3, and by arranging on top of this, either by spraying or by screening, a second layer of ice whose density is at least 800 kg/m3. The support structure according to the invention is used, for example, as an ice route and casting mould for hardening stone aggregates.
