Thus, 2-ClC6H4SO2NHCMe3 was lithiated and cyclocondensated with DMF to give benzisothiazole (II), which was worked up in 8 steps to give benzisothiazolesulfonyl isocyanate(III). This was condensated with 2-amino-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine to give sulfonylurea(IV).
