PURPOSE:To enable a smooth operation to be obtained and also the performance, vibration, fuel consumption and the like to be favorable by providing an engine with a rotating shaft which has a projecting portion or a recessed portion formed into a sine-curve like shape. CONSTITUTION:A part 5, which is attached by means of a piston rod 6 to a piston 2, and the beltlike projecting portion 4 of a rotating shaft 3 are engaged with each other. In addition, the projecting portion 4 is formed into a sine-curve like shape on the circumference. Hereupon, when the piston 2 is forced down by the combustion of fuel in a combustion chamber, the part 5 is moved by means of the rod 6 on the projecting portion 4, and consequently, the rotating shaft 3 rotates by a certain angle of rotation. Thus the rotating shaft 3 continues to rotate on an intake, compression, combustion, exhaust cycle. Thereby, a shaft, as the center of a reciprocating motion, and another shaft, as the center of a rotary motion, are parallel to each other, and their points of contact are engaged so that the same state is kept at all times, and therefore, a rational motion can be obtained. |
