PURPOSE:To quickly and easily extract vertical and horizontal lines by erasing images in rows and columns lower than a set threshold to generate a new image. CONSTITUTION:Total sum values SIGMAPin and SIGMAPmj of data are obtained with respect to each row and each column of a binarized matrix input image, and a threshold corresponding to the length of a line to be extracted is set. Images in rows and columns where total sum values are lower than the threshold are erased to generate a new image. As the result, vertical and horizontal lines are emphasized in the obtained image, and positions of vertical and horizontal lines are detected together.
