PURPOSE:To prevent strain, degradation in strength and surface defects and to enhance accuracy and quality by preparing a ring member and shaft member respectively separately, and joining and integrating these members by mechanical fitting. CONSTITUTION:While the ring member 1 is prepd. by an extruded pipe 11 consisting of an aluminum alloy having good wear resistance, the shaft member 2 is prepd. by a die casting method or forging method. After a knurling joint part 3 substantially constituting ruggedness is formed on the outside peripheral face at one end of the shaft member 2, the ring member 11 is fitted to the joint part 3 and is caulked, by which the two members are joined and integrated. After the ring member 1 and the shaft member 2 are coupled in such a manner, the shaft member 2b and the outside peripheral face of the ring member 1 to serve as a traveling surface for a tape are subjected to precision machining. The degradation in the accuracy and strength by generation of the strain is thereby prevented and the accuracy and quality are enhanced.
