PURPOSE:To improve seizure resistance and safety by heating a billet after coating a pretreating agent with a boric acid as a main components on a billet and executing warm forging by coating the lubricant with a boron oxide as the main components on the billet. CONSTITUTION:The pretreating agent adding the binder with a boric acid as the main components is coated in a slurry shape on the surface of a billet 3 in a low temp. state. After heating the billet 3 up to about 600-700 deg.C, a lubricant with a boron oxide as the main components is coated by a spray, etc., on its surface. The billet 3 is then heated to 700-850 deg.C to execute warm forging via a container 1 and punch 2. Since the pretreating agent is coated on the billet 3 at low temp. and thereafter warm forging is executed by coating a lubricant at high temp. the oxidation of the billet is effectively checked. Consequently the seizure resistance at forging time is improved and the safety in working is improved as well because no combustible matter is used.
