PURPOSE:To obtain an accurate and efficient method, by performing the mechanical expanding and contracting operation of a position detecting sensor according to a sequence control system corresponding to measuring procedure using a pressure fluid as a drive source. CONSTITUTION:When the push button 7a of a display device 7 is pushed, a sensor unit 4 operates a segment position detecting sensor 1 and a composite rod 8 is upwardly extruded by the energizing of a sequence controller 5. When the composite rod 8 stops at a stroke end, next, operating air is sent to an auxiliary air cylinder 12 from a supply nozzle 14 to protrude an auxiliary rod 11 to the right and the sensor arm 13 provided to the leading and of said rod 11 is horizontally protruded in the direction of a segment 36. When the auxiliary rod 11 stops at a stroke end, operating air is sent into a main cylinder 10 from the operating air supply nozzle 18 of the cylinder 10 and the composite rod 8 reversely operates in a contracting direction and, as a result, the sensor 1 moves so as to follow the composite rod 8 and is brought into contact with the inner peripheral surface 36a of the segment to detect the position thereof. |
