PURPOSE:To distinguish descriptions in respective languages as descriptions independent of each other by converting a language through correspondence relations between respective languages and respective function patterns and those between function patterns of respective languages. CONSTITUTION:A language converting means 9 extracts correspondence relations between a first language description 1 and a function pattern 3 on a first function pattern storage means 2. A function coupling knowledge 8 on a function coupling knowledge storage means 7 is used for the pattern allowed to correspond to the language description with respect to this operation to retrieve and extract a corresponding function pattern from function patterns 6 on a second function pattern storage means 5. A second language description 4 is constituted on the basis of this corresponding pattern 6. By this operation, descriptions 1 and 4 are prescribed as correspondence relations between both patterns 3 and 6 through correspondence relations to the pattern 3 and those to the pattern 6. Consequently, first and second language descriptions are independent of each other.
