PURPOSE:To enhance the mechanical strength of disk surfaces and to obviate generation of defective recording, reproducing and erasing of information by flaws by forming transparent electrode films on said surface, then forming high-hardness carbon films thereon. CONSTITUTION:An information medium layer 2 is formed on a disk-shaped transparent substrate 1 consisting of polycarbonate and a protective substrate 4 is provided thereon via an adhesive agent 3. The transparent electrode films 5, 5' consisting of thin ITO films are formed on both faces of the substrate 1 and the substrate 4 and the high-hardness carbon films 6, 6' are formed thereon by a plasma injection CVD method. These carbon films 6, 6' consist of amorphous carbon by which the diamond-like high-hardness carbon films having >=2,500kg/mm<2> Vickers hardness are formed. The mechanical strength of the surface is thereby extremely increased and the generation of the defective recording, reproducing and erasing of information by flaws is obviated. |
