PURPOSE:To make it possible to cope with additional loading of an original and to eliminate useless feed of an original by providing an switch-back reversing passage for discharging originals onto an original bed and an original return passage for leading originals again to an original reversing section. CONSTITUTION:Simultaneously with the completion of exposure of one side surface of an original, an original conveyer belt 36 is reversed, and accordingly, the original is guided upward by means of a change-over pawl 48 which is switched to a position shown by a broken line, and is then fed by a feed roller 49 and a roller 32 so as to enter into an original returning passage 51. The original is fed by reversing rollers 27, 28 so as to return again along an original reversing passage 51, and is referred toward a contact glass pane 10. Further, in a scan mode, the original is stopped on the contact glass pane 10 while an exposure optical system 11 is moved so as to carry out exposure scanning. Further, in a sheet-through mode, the original is continuously fed without being stopped, and is subjected to exposure scanning at a position L1. If original is double-sided, it is discharged in the direction C through a reversing passage 38 and a switch-back passage 42 without switch-back.
