PURPOSE:To surely and safely contact a cover glass to a culture vessel and to enable the observation, etc., of a cell using a small amount of culture liquid, by using an elastomer ring having a suction pad at the top and a groove on the side face and inserting the ring between a cover glass and a culture vessel. CONSTITUTION:A ring made of an elastomer, having a suction pad 101 at the top to contact with a cover glass 3 and a groove 103 on the whole circumference of the side wall is fit into a hole 4 of a culture vessel 1 engaging the groove 102 to the edge of the hole. The cover glass 3 is pressed against and fixed to the suction pad 101 and the cell 5 is observed by a microscope in the course of culture. The inner face of the elastic ring has cylindrical shape 104 to enable the holding of the culture liquid 6, etc., by surface tension. Accordingly, it is not necessary to fill the whole vessel 2 with the culture liquid 6 and the drying of the cell 5 attached to the cover glass 3 can be prevented.
