The present invention relates to a work station with a vertically-adjustable top. The work station according to the present invention comprises a framework 1, a vertically-movable top 6 and means for locking the latter, comprising a friction surface 12 which can move angularly and is connected to the top 7, and at least one other friction surface. The distance between the friction surfaces is adjustable in a continuous manner between a locking position of the top 7 and a freely-moving position of the said top 7. The invention applies in particular to work stations for computing. <IMAGE>
