Electric light fitting for both directed and general illumination. The fitting includes a centrally placed light source (8a), a downwardly facing reflector (16) concentric with the light source, and a translucent diffuser (1). In accordance with the invention the light source (8a) is elongate and substantially vertically oriented, with its vertical length corresponding to at least half the extension of the diffuser (1) in height. The light source includes at least one fluorescent tube (8a), suitably a so-called compact fluorescent tube (8a). The lower part of the light source (8a) coacts with the reflector (16) for emitting a downwardly directed concentrated light beam, while the upper part of the light source coacts with the diffuser (1) for emitting generally spread illumination. |
