PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of malfunction in the drive of a recording head even if a recorder is scanned at a high speed, by providing a recording head being driven according to a conductive pulse in synchronism with a detection signal from a detection means detecting the travel of a device body on a recording medium and a control means limiting the generation of conductive pulses of more than a fixed frequency. CONSTITUTION:When an encoder output pulse S2 is reduced to a value less than a time constant value which is lower than a minimum response frequency of a recording head preset in a cycle limiting circuit 14 due to the increase of the travel speed of a device body, e.g. if the encoder output pulse S2 is generated at a low level of a reference pulse, the pulse S2 is cut by a gate circuit 15, and a timing signal S3 with a defective timing pulse being controlled is inputted to a gate circuit 16. On the other hand, conductive data S5 is inputted to the gate circuit 16 in synchronism with the timing pulse S3 controlled by the cycle limiting circuit 14, and with a drive signal S6 for a driver circuit 18 the driver circuit 18 controls a defective timing pulse less than the response frequency of the recording head and drives the recording head.
