PURPOSE:To lower the temperature of gas and collect dust and tar in gas by bringing high-temperature gas into counter contact with a pellet layer moving downward. CONSTITUTION:High-temperature gas containing dust and tar is introduced from a gas stream inlet 02 into a gas cooler 01, rising up inside a pellet layer 04 moving downward, and guided from a gas stream outlet 03 to the outside of a system. At that time, the high-temperature gas and low-temperature pellets are heat exchanged, and the temperature of pellets is raised while gas is cooled down, and at the same time, the dust in the gas is adhered to the pellets and collected. Tar condensed on the surface of the pellets is lowered down to a high-temperature zone together with the pellets and heated and decomposed to be turned into carbide, which is lowered together with the pellets. The pellets, dust and tar carbide discharged out by a rotary valve 09 are separated from a separation device 10 such as a vibratory screen or the like, and the pellets are circulated and utilized.
