PURPOSE:To selectively separate carbon monoxide which is useful for synthetic chemistry, from a mixed gas by adding halogenated copper (I) and resin having an imidazole ring. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of a resin having an imidazole ring such as 1- vinylimidazole and 4-vinylimidazole and halogenated copper (I) such as chlorinated copper (I) and fluorinated copper (I), at the molar number ratio of about 0.1-30 of halogenated copper (I) to imidazole group, is stirred in a solvent such as acetonitrile. After this, the solvent is removed under reduced pressure to obtain an adsorbent. This adsorbent adsorbs carbon monoxide at room temperature and atmospheric pressure quickly, and is allowed to desorb the adsorbed carbon monoxide by heating the adsorbent or decreasing the pressure or reducing the partial pressure of carbon monoxide. Thus the carbon monoxide can easily be separated from the mixed gas, and the performance of the adsorbent does not deteriorate, even if the cycle of adsorption and desorption is repeated. |
