Stone oven, especially for treating foodstuffs, which has an upper treatment chamber (19) and a lower combustion chamber (18), which chambers are separated from one another by means of an intermediate floor (17) and are connected to one another by means of a flue aperture (20). The flue aperture (20) can be covered by refractory bricks (34 to 36) in such a way that the treatment chamber (19) can be used as a baking chamber when the refractory plates are inserted and as a smoking chamber when the refractory plates have been removed, the smoke being generated in the combustion chamber (18) and being drawn off through the flue aperture (20) into the treatment chamber (19) and from thence through the smoke outlet (31). <IMAGE>
