<p>A road vehicle having at least one moving floor (9) which is positively locatable at a plurality of predetermined heights. The or each floor (9) is locatable by a plurality of support members (10) spaced horizontally and vertically along the opposed walls (8) of the vehicle with actuating means (11) attached to the or each floor (9) for simultaneously engaging or disensaging with the support members (10) on both walls. The support members (10) may comprise a series of horizontally mounted projecting bars vertically spaced. The or each floor may be moved by a plurality of sheave pulleys (5) located along each wall (8) of the vehicle, a longitudinal bar (6) being mounted above the pulleys (5) at each wall. A flexible cable (7) or chain mounting means, one for each pulley (5), may be attached between each movable bar (6) and the floor (9), passing over each pulley (5), and means is provided for moving the bars simultaneously so that forward or rearward movement of the bars (6) causes lifting or lowering of the floor (9).</p> |
