A fluid meter (10) such as a density meter or a Coriolis-type mass flow meter includes a fluid tube (14) which is mounted to allow for expansion and contraction relative to a base (12) to which opposite ends of the tube are mounted. A single, rectilinear flow tube measuring section (14c) is bounded at each end by a thermally insulating wall (24, 26) having a linear bearing (20, 22) which allows longitudinal axial movement while restraining transverse movement. Expansion and contraction of the measuring section is accommodated by a laterally coiled tube portion (14f). Other embodiments (40, 80, 200, 230) may utilize more than one flow tube measuring section, and transverse movement of the flow tube is inhibited by either linear bearings (54; 94) or node plates (204, 205, 206, 207; 246, 247, 248, 249) rigidly fixed to the flow tube measuring section. In a serial double-type flow sensor, three serial rectilinear and parallel section (44c, 44d, 44e; 201, 202, 203) of the flow tube are joined by arcuate sections (44f, 44g; 217, 218). In another embodiment, the flow is split into two parallel tubes (84a, 84b; 233, 234), one end is mounted to the base or housing (82; 232) by a compressible section (112; 270) and the other end is fixedly mounted directly to the base (82; 232).
|
