The round bale press consists of a series of belts enclosing the bale-forming chamber, a pick-up unit and a starter roller (26). The roller is located on the opposite side of the chamber inlet to the pick-up unit. The starter roller is equipped with a scraper (28) which is fixed to the baler frame immediately adjacent to the roller to prevent the harvested crop from tangling round it. The scraper can be combined with a set of fingers (30) which are located between the bale-forming belts (6) adjacent to the lower drive roller (7). The fingers are located above the starter roller and the scraper below it.
