In internal combustion engines with a liquid-cooled, especially an oil-cooled cylinder liner (2), the heat transfer from the cylinder liner (2) to the coolant is impeded. The object of the invention is to create a cylinder liner (2), which by simple structural means ensures a good heat transfer to the coolant. The cylinder liner (2) is cast by the rough casting process and at least partial areas of the surface facing the coolant remain untreated after casting. <IMAGE>
