A book-copying device (1) having a stationary image-scanning and image-recording device (2, 7, 8) has a guide block (slide carriage) (15) which in conjunction with a book support (10) can be moved to and fro and has a copy support (14) of the shape of a trapezium. The book support (10) rests on the copy support (14) which is provided with an upper horizontal, transparent support area and angular support areas connected thereto on both sides. The book support (10) can be moved into a position so that it is upwardly pivoted like a lectern and has two support areas (10d, 10e) which are arranged relative to one another at an obtuse angle, for positioning a book (9) which has been opened so that it can be read. The book which has been positioned on the book support (10) is held by a transparent holding board (11) which is pivotably supported and which can be locked in the open and in the closed position. The holding board (11) and the angled support areas of the copy support (14) are matched to the obtuse-angled design of the book support (10). By means of an oblong hole guide (slotted hole guide) (10c), the book support (10) is guided on a guide rod (10) in the direction of travel of the guide block (15) and mounted thereon so that it can be pivoted as well as raised and lowered. <IMAGE>
