DEVICE FOR CLEANING AND CLOSING THE SPRAY SURFACE OF AN INK HEAD

The sealing and cleaning device for an ink head (10) comprises an electrically-driven endless ribbon (14) on which two wedge-shaped wiping lips (16) are arranged. For cleaning and sealing, the spray head is brought into close proximity with the endless ribbon (14), a surface of the endless ribbon not provided with wiping lips serving as spraying surface for free spraying of the ink head (10). A cleaning device (21) consisting of scraping edges (23) or a cleaning roller (22) removes the ink on the endless ribbon. The endless ribbon also has a groove formed by bulges (26) which is brought in front of and applied to the nozzle plate to cover the endless ribbon during a writing pause. Sealing is effected by means of a ball-shaped elastic cushion arranged between the endless ribbon which is pressed against the endless ribbon and hence against the nozzle plate by a pressing device. The spherical shape prevents air inclusions in the region of the nozzle plate.
