PURPOSE:To improve workability, by filling up undercut sections with pulverulent bodies, and by manufacturing a commutator. CONSTITUTION:On a commutator 10, respective commutator segments 1 are firmly fitted with molding resin(thermosetting resin)3, and between the respective commutator segments, undercut sections 2 for air insulation spaces are formed. When the commutator 10 is manufactured, the undercut sections 2 are filled up with pulverulent bodies, and after that, the commutator 10 is outer-diameter- machining-processed with the machining tool of a bit or the like and is cleaned with water if needed. Then, the pulverulent bodies are removed from the undercut sections 2, and the undercut sections 2 are set in the same state as that set before the sections 2 are filled up with the pulverulent bodies. As this result, the respective commutator segments 1 can be machined uniformly and continuously because the undercut sections 2 are filled up with the pulverulent bodies when the commutator 10 is outer-diameter-machined.
