PURPOSE:To prevent a reproducing fault by forming one bit with 3 or more optical pulses and making larger the light radiation energy of a first optical pulse and the light radiation energy of a final optical pulse than the light radiation energy of the optical pulse to form the intermediate part of a pit. CONSTITUTION:In order to form one pit, 3 or more optical pulses are used, and the light radiation energy of a first optical pulse 1 to form the starting edge part of the pit and the light radiation energy of a final optical pulse 3 to form the termination part of the pit are respectively made larger than the light radiation energy of an optical pulse 2 to form the intermediate part of the pit. Thus, the shape of a recording trace (pit, etc.,) especially in the case of the pit, is not influenced by the size of the pit and the position before and after and the right and left of the pit and always is of the well-ordered shape close to the ideal of the pit in which both edges are semi-circular and the intermediate is a linear rectangular shape, and therefore, the reliability can be improved in the recording and reproducing of data.
