PURPOSE:To easily execute a tap return even if an emergency stop is applied in the course of tap working, by constituting the titled controller so that a start is applied without executing an origin return after the emergency stop, and also, a working axis feed is controlled by synchronizing with a rotating speed of a main axis. CONSTITUTION:When a machine becomes an emergency stop state in the course of tap working, it stops in a state that the tap has been bitten into a work. When a return push-button 13 is pushed, a sequence control part 12 decides whether a synchronous operation signal 16 has been ON immediately before the emergency stop or not. When the synchronous operation signal 16 is ON, the sequence control part 12 instructs an automatic operation mode of a system control part 3, and when it becomes the automatic operation mode, a program of a tap return is searched, and by applying a start, the origin return is executed. The program of a tap return designates an incremental feed mode and designates a moving extent, switches said mode to a synchronous operation mode and moves backward a working axis by a cutting feed, and, also, reverses the main axis.
