PURPOSE:To eliminate a structural misalignment by arraying respective colors not in plane, but vertically against respective dots. CONSTITUTION:Two liquid crystal shutters of one as the same dot structure having different color filters 74 and 78 are superposed so that their dots correspond to each other one to one and the liquid crystal shutters are opened at an optical rate even for a nondisplay part (black level). A structural color slippage is eliminated by the display element of two-color constitution arrayed at every dot and the resolution of this color constitution can be held at the same level as a monochromatic level. Further, there is not any color slippage due to heat, earth magnetism, etc., and no geometric distortion is caused.
