PURPOSE:To increase the reproduction resolution of a magnetic head by constituting the main magnetic pole of the magnetic head with three-component amorphous alloy which consists essentially of cobalt and contains small amouns of added zirconium and niobium. CONSTITUTION:The main magnetic pole 2 of the magnetic head for vertical magnetic recording is made of a thin film of three-component amorphous alloy, which contains 83.4wt% Co, 6.5wt% Zr, and 10.1wt% Nb while the total content of Zr and Nb is 16.6wt%. This main magnetic pole 2 is formed by sputtering and then heat-treated in a rotating magnetic field under the prescribed condition. This three-component amorphous alloy has high magnetic permeability and saturated magnetic flux density. Thus, the thin main magnetic pole is formed, and consequently the reproduction resolution power of the magnetic head is increased. |
