PURPOSE:To facilitate heat radiation from an alkaline storage battery so as to improve its life characteristic by burying a metallic plate in each partition wall provided between adjacent unit cell containers of a monoblock container in such a manner that a part of each metallic plate protrudes outside the container. CONSTITUTION:At the same time when a monoblock container 1 is formed by subjecting AS resin or the like to injection molding, metallic members 3 made of copper, silver, aluminum or the like and having a high thermal conductivity are buried in partition walls 1' each provided between adjacent unit cell containers 2 in such a manner that a part of each member 3 protrudes outside the container 1. After that, electrolyte and a plate group consisting of a positive plate, a negative plate, a separator and the like are installed in each unit cell container 2, thereby constituting an alkaline storage battery such as an Ni-Zn battery. Owing to such constitution as above, the increase in temperature of the battery caused during its charge and discharge can be reduced due to the heat radiation of the metallic plates 3. As a result, the life of the battery can be increased by preventing any reduction in its performance. |
