<p>PURPOSE:To rapidly retrieve a desired picture by setting a device at a first mode for reproducing a video signal, according as a mode control signal has been regenerated by a control signal regenerating means, and during other period, setting it at a second mode for quickly forwarding a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A second control switch SW9, capable of being operated independently of first control switches SW5-SW8 to instruct to start the recording of a video information to the medium, is provided, and the mode control signal of a longitudinal direction track on the medium is recorded according to the operation of the first control switches SW5-SW8. Besides, the mode control signal is recorded in the longitudinal track according to the operation of the second control switch SW9. Accordingly, the mode control signal can be recorded automatically in a position corresponding to the changing part of a scene, and besides, the mode control signal can be recorded optionally in the position corresponding to the scene other than the changing part of the scene by means of the second control switch SW9. At the time of a reproduction, when the mode control signal is not present, the recording medium is rapidly forwarded, and only the desired scene or the changing part of the scene is reproduced. Thus, the desired picture can be retrieved in an extremely short time.</p> |
