PURPOSE:To satisfactorily clean the surface of a photosensitive body over a long period of time by setting the spiral rotating direction of a recovering auger facing the photosensitive body in such a manner that said auger conveys a recovered developer to a recovering box while rotating in the direction where the developer is scooped up. CONSTITUTION:The residual developer adhering to the photosensitive body 12 is scraped by a blade 56 of a cleaning device 18. The spiral rotating direction of the recovering auger 67 in such a manner that the part thereof facing the photosensitive body conveys the recovered developer (a) to the recovering box 66 while rotating in the direction where the developer is scooped up. The conveying pressure, therefore, acts in the direction opposite to the photosensitive body 12 side so that spilling and overflowing of the developer (a) from the spacing between the photosensitive body and the recovering blade 56 are obviated.
