PURPOSE:To quickly set a magnet after inversion in a specified direction by providing a second coil and a position away from the central line to a first coil to invert and hold the magnet and controlling a current to flow at the second coil related to the position of the magnet. CONSTITUTION:The first coil 12 to rotate a magnet 11 for impressing a magnetic field and hold it to the position and the second coil 13 arranged at the point away from the center of the first coil 12 are provided and the current to flow at the second coil 13 is controlled in accordance with the rotating position of the magnet 11. At the time of recording or at the time of erasing, when the magnet 11 is inverted, the current, in which the magnet 11, for example, is driven in a counter-clockwise direction, is supplied the first and the second coils 12 and 13 and an initial driving force is enlarged. Simultaneously, at the step in which the inverting action of the magnet 11 passes through an intermediate part, the current supplied to the second coil 13 side is turned off or the reverse current is supplied. Thus, while the inertia force of the magnet 11 is compressed, a setting time can be shortened.
