摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the title material capable of easily providing a magneto- optical recording medium having a good reproduction C/N of a recording signal and excellent weatherability, capable of easily forming a perpendicular magnetic line, and having an excellent magneto-optical effect such as Faraday effect by doping magnetite with Ti and further with Co. CONSTITUTION:Magnetite is doped with Ti and further with Co to obtain the magneto-optical material having the composition shown by the formula (ox<=0.5 and 0<=y<1). Subsequently, a first protective layer 3 consisting of an inductor such as SiO, SiO2, Si3N4, and ZnS and having 500-3,000Angstrom thickness, a magneto- optical recording layer 4 consisting of the above-mentioned magneto-optical material and having 500Angstrom thickness, a reflecting layer 5 consisting of the material having high reflectivity such as Al, Au, and Ag and having 500-3,000Angstrom thickness, and a second protective layer 6 having the same composition and thickness as a first protective layer are successively formed on a transparent substrate 2 having about 1mm thickness and consisting of glass, polycarbonate, etc., to obtain a magneto-optical recording medium 1 (e.g., a magneto-optical disk).
