PURPOSE:To provide a significant rust preventing effect on a can or vessel to an aerosol compsn. by incorporating a maleic acid polymer having P-C bonds in the molecule into the aerosol compsn. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophosphite is added to an aq. maleate soln. and the soln. is heated and polymerized in the presence of a polymn. initiator to obtain a maleic acid polymer having P-C bonds in the molecule. This polymer is incorporated into an aerosol compsn. by about 0.001-10wt.% (expressed in terms of solid matter). The resulting aerosol compsn. is especially effective in preventing the corrosion of a can filled with an aerosol product contg. an aq. compsn.
